TEMPERATURES have soared to 29 C in York as the city experienced its hottest day of the year so far.
The maximum temperature, equal to 84F, was recorded this afternoon at the University of York's weather station.
The city saw a maximum of 28C yesterday, higher than Athens, Istanbul and Venice.
A cold front will cross the region tonight, with temperatures plummeting to only 20C in York tomorrow.
