NHS BLOOD and Transplant is urging people in North and East Yorkshire to start saving lives by registering as new blood donors during National Blood Week.
The service needs 200,000 new blood donors each year to ensure that patients have access to the blood they need, when they need it.
Last year, 27,000 people in North Yorkshire and the East Riding gave blood at least once, but bosses say new blood donors are crucial for making sure there is the right mix of blood donors in the future. There is a particular need for young people, and for black donors.
To sign up as a new donor or book an appointment visit: www.blood.co.uk or by calling 0300 1232323.
