A ROYAL salute will be held in York this weekend to commemorate the birthday of Her Majesty The Queen.

The 21-gun salute will be hosted by 4th Infantry Brigade and HQ North East in Museum Gardens on Saturday, and the Band of The Yorkshire Regiment is set to perform a marching display through the city centre before the event.

Guests at the event will include the Inspecting Officer, Mrs Sue Snowdon, Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, and the Saluting Troop from 101st (Northumbrian) Royal Artillery (Reserves) will fire three 105mm Light Guns at midday, followed by the National Anthem.

Members of the public are welcome to attend and will be able to watch proceedings from a roped off area near the Yorkshire Museum, and officers from North Yorkshire Police and City of York Council will also be in attendance. York’s salute is the only one in the North.
