THE star-studded York Barbican pantomime, Robin Hood And The Babes In The Wood, still needs one more performer and it could be you.

The producers, Those Magic Beans, are holding open auditions on Friday and Saturday to cast the principal role of Maid Marian for this winter's production. Whoever is chosen must be available from December 11 to 31 for the full rehearsal period and production run.

Producer, director and writer Jamie Wilson says: "We’re looking for a really talented young actress to join the Robin Hood cast to play Maid Marian. Definitely a strong singer, but also a performer who can hold her own on stage with the all-star cast we’re brining to the Barbican. It doesn’t matter if it’s someone who has no experience, or done panto before, if she come’s from York or even from the West End; we’ll cast the most talented person that walks through the door later this week.

"So, whether you're an experienced professional, a trained performer fresh out of college, or just a talented hopeful, we want to see you at the auditions at the York Barbican. The successful auditionee will receive a paid contract to appear in the full run of the show, alongside Shane Lynch, Ben Adams and the rest of the panto cast."

All those who wish to audition must be available to attend on either Friday or Saturday at 11am and also, if selected, a recall audition on Saturday from 2pm. "Auditionees should prepare two songs, one uptempo, one musical theatre, and bring sheet music but not backing tracks," says Jamie.

Robin Hood will be the first winter pantomime at York Barbican since 2012 and will run from December 21 to 31 with a cast led by Boyzone's Shane Lynch as the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham, Ben Adams, from BRIT Award-winning and A1, as Robin Hood, and EastEnders soap star Ricky Norwood as Silly Billy Carlet.

Michael Starke, who played Sinbad in Brookside for 16 years, will be on dame duty as Nurse Nellie in his return to York panto after starring as the Emperor of China in Aladdin at the Grand Opera House in 2006-2007.

Ben Ofoedu, from the pop combo Phats And Small and boy band supergroup Boys Allowed, will play Little John; Anna Kumble, alias Nineties' pop singer Lolly, will be the Fairy of the Forest, in her eighth panto season with Wilson's company, and Jaz Ellington, from the first series of The Voice, will be Friar Tuck after making his panto debut last year as the King in Jack And The Beanstalk in Gravesend.
