ORGANISERS of a beer and music festival which raises funds to boost community sports facilities are looking for sponsors to make it a bigger success.

More than 300 people are expected to attend the Fulford Beer and Music Festival, which is being hosted by Fulford Football Club and Fulford Community Sports Club at the Fulfordgate Sports Pavilion, next to Fulford School, on Saturday July 8.

"Over the previous two festivals we have raised nearly £3,500 to support local sports," said organiser Nigel Craddock. "Of this £500 was donated to the Fulford School Appeal that funded the defibrillator on their school gates.

"Other projects funded have included replacing the pavilion water supply, replacing all the 50-year-old tables and chairs in the sports pavilion clubhouse and providing matched funding to access FA grants to help purchase new 9- a-side goalposts and to improve the Parish Field playing surface."

The licensed bar will sell about a dozen local real ales, plus local craft keg lagers and local, traditional and fruit ciders. There will also be a separate Prosecco Bar and a food stall serving burgers, hot dogs, snacks and soft drinks.

There will be live music during the afternoon and into the early evening, including The Senators, and organisers are keen to hear from local bands interested in joining the line-up.

The event has already won support from Autohorn, as the main sponsor this year, along with York-based Pavilion Row who are sponsoring the programme. Barrel sponsors so far include Press Green, MGW Joinery, Peter Moody & Co, Walker Crips Group, Ainsty Ales and Harrowells Solicitors.
