FOLLOWING the arrival of my niece’s baby girl, when I have been on pram pushing duty I have rediscovered the beautiful, green open spaces York has to offer.

It is a breath of fresh air to young lungs.

Avoiding most of the streets filled with concentrations of heavy standing traffic, our walk often includes the beautiful grounds of York St John University.

Then a wander through the green open space of Bootham Park, then a refreshing walk along the side of the River Ouse.

Venturing into the Museum Gardens, you find an oasis of fresh air filled with many interesting and varied flowers and plants, and trees and buildings.

We go around the back of the Art Gallery and on to the back of the Minster, where there is a quiet corner to sit and ponder.

York is far more than just a tourist city, it’s a beautiful place filled with plenty of open places.

A breath of fresh air.
