Have you noticed that there's an election on?
A very important election it is, too. Whoever wins will have the difficult job of negotiating our exit from Europe, while somehow trying to hold the country together.
But if you've had enough of hysterical headlines and squabbling, point-scoring politicians ... well we have the perfect answer.
Our photographs today comes from rural town and villages around York, and take us back to quieter, less strident times.
There are a few hints to remind us that not everything in the past was better. The caption to the wonderfully tranquil 1957 photo of Buttercrambe, for example, says that even 12 years after the end of the war, the village pump had a sign saying 'out of bounds to all troops'. This may have been needed because, during the war, Aldby Park in the village had been requisitioned by the army.
By and large, however, these photographs offer a wonderful antidote to the often frantic pace of modern living.
Just don't forget to go and cast your vote on Thursday...
