FIREFIGHTERS dealt with four fires in three hours early yesterday.

A motorcycle caught fire on Bishopdyke Road, Cawood, at about 2.40am.

Crews from York, Tadcaster and Selby dealt with the blaze.

Just after midnight, Selby firefighters dealt with a garage fire in Volta Street, Selby. They restricted the blaze to inside the building, where some items stored there were damaged.

Meanwhile, Ripon firefighters were tackling two blazes in Magdalens Road, Ripon, started by arsonists.

At 1am, they put out a fire in a children’s playground that damaged a climbing frame.

On their way back to the station, they saw a bale containing about a tonne of hay on fire, which they also put out. They said both fires were started deliberately.
