A DELIVERY man has been banned from driving for 16 months after he was caught drink driving for the second time.

Matthew Peter Harrison, 32, turned down the chance to learn how to prevent himself from drink driving following his first conviction in 2006, defence solicitor Harry Bayman told York magistrates.

Martin Butterworth, prosecuting, said police stopped Harrison for a routine check on Foxwood Lane, York, at 5.30pm on March 6 this year. A blood test revealed he was one and a half times the legal limit.

Harrison, of Corlett Court, Foxwood, York, pleaded guilty to drink driving and was fined £200 plus £85 prosecution costs and a £30 statutory surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 16 months.

Mr Bayman said the ban would cost him his job as he worked as a delivery driver for hotels on the East Coast.

He wanted to go on the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course he didn’t go on in 2006.
