THE daughter of a couple killed in the Manchester attack has thanked wellwishers for their support - as floral tributes have been laid in York.

Marcin and Angelika Klis (pictured below) are believed to have been killed as they waited to pick their two daughters up following the Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena.

As taxi driver Marcin, 42, and Angelika, 39, waited at their pre-arranged meeting place in the foyer they were caught in the bomb blast.

Flowers are this morning being laid outside Marcin's place of work at York Cars Taxis

Their daughter Alex, a student at York College, said she has been inundated with messages of condolence over the loss of her parents.

She wrote on Facebook that she "wanted to thank everyone for the supportive messages and posts❤️ I'm in no way being ignorant but with everything going on I don't have the time to reply to everyone individually but I do appreciate them all so much."

From yesterday afternoon candles and flowers began to be laid outside the taxi office in Blossom Street.

This morning local business owners added to the tributes, with staff from Sainsbury's writing: "You were taken too soon...Huge condolences to all your family and friends." The Blossom cafe wrote: "Our thoughts are with you."

The Klis family, who are from the Leeman Road area, have been described by friends as being very close.

A spokeswoman for Marcin's workplace said: “York Cars Taxis are deeply shocked and saddened by the events in Manchester. Marcin was a pleasant and fun-loving family man and a valued member of our team.

“He was well liked and respected by his colleagues during his six months with us.

“We would like to offer our sincere condolences to Marcin and Angelika’s daughters, family and friends.

“We will of course be doing everything possible to support them through this tragic event.”
