OH Theresa, just when things seemed to be going so well, why sabotage the Tory campaign?

Why, when you say you need every vote to give you clear support in the Brexit negotiations, do you upset pensioners with threats of withdrawing the winter fuel allowance from all but the poorest, and add to the anxiety by not specifying what level of income is considered poor?

Added to this, why talk of withdrawing free school meals from infant school children, thus upsetting many parents?

Who is mean-spirited enough to begrudge small children a warm midday meal?

Or perhaps we could go back to the days of two queues of children, one of children who are able to pay for their lunch, and one whose children are stigmatised because their parents are poor and they are therefore “entitled” to a free meal.

And how can we talk about putting an extra £4 billion into education, and in the same breath announce we will mainly fund it by withdrawing free meals?

This doesn’t sound like extra money to me.

The contrast between the haves and have-nots is becoming more obvious by the day.
