THE Charlatans will follow up the May 26 release of their Different Days album with an 11-date late-autumn tour with two Yorkshire gigs: Sheffield O2 Academy on November 30 and Leeds O2 Academy on December 7.

Already the Manchester indie rock stalwarts are booked to play Scarborough Open Air Theatre on June 16 with a line-up of core members Mark Collins on guitar, Martin Blunt on bass, Tim Burgess on vocals and Tony Rogers on keyboards, joined by former The Verve drummer Pete Salisbury.

"We love playing live," says Burgess. "Our last tour was my favourite we've ever done and I'm thinking these dates might be even better. We're looking forward to seeing everyone."

Released through BMG, Different Days is The Charlatans' 13th album and was co-produced with Jim Spencer at the band’s studio in Cheshire, where Burgess, Blunt, Collins and Rogers opened their doors to an enviable cast of friends to make contributions. Initially, this happened out of necessity after the passing of founding drummer Jon Brookes in 2013, so the first call went to Pete Salisbury.

Johnny Marr dropped by for an hour but stayed for five and now features on three songs, including the single Plastic Machinery. Similarly, New Order's Stephen Morris, who had helped out on 2015's top ten album Modern Nature, extended his role on this record to seven tracks of drumming and programming.

Crime writer Ian Rankin and Lambchop's Kurt Wagner offer spoken-word intros on Future Tense and The Forgotten One respectively and an old friend of Burgess, Catastrophe writer/actress Sharon Horgan, sings backing vocals on the title track. As the spirit of collaboration prospered, Burgess fast-tracked a long-discussed team-up with Paul Weller for the expansive album finale Spinning Out.

Different Days will be available on 12" vinyl, CD, cassette, limited-edition clear 12" vinyl, download and a special-edition collection of five 7" singles featuring ten tracks from the album.
