A WILDLIFE rescue centre near Selby is appealing for donations of food to help cope with the influx of little patients and injured animals.

Every spring and summer the The Wildlife Orphanage and hedgehog hospital, in Barlby is flooded with hundreds of orphans who for one reason or another have lost their parents. This year it has encountered many heartbreaking cases including in April, a hedgehog who was savagely attacked by a dog and had to have a leg amputated.

The centre is desperate for donations of cat food, dried meal worms, bird seed and kitchen rolls. Anyone able to help can drop donations off at Low Mill, York Road, Barlby or phone 07711 883072.
