PRINCE Edward Island folk band The East Pointers have postponed Tuesday's gig at Pocklington Arts Centre until October 21.

The revised date will coincide with the release of the Canadians' new album.

Ticket holders should contact the box office to exchange tickets for the new show or to receive a refund.

The East Pointers will be touring Britain on the back of winning the Traditional Roots Album prize in Canada's most prestigious music awards, the Junos.

"It was a shock for all of us. Definitely didn't expect it, but pretty exciting," says fiddle player and vocalist Tim Chaisson, who is joined in the line-up by guitarist and vocalist Jake Charron and banjo player, vocalist and step-dancer Koady Chaisson.

The trio were on tour in Australia at the time of the awards ceremony in Ottawa, requiring them to live-stream the event, and they have since moved on to Britain, so they are yet to lay their hands on the award.

The East Pointers’ slew of Celtic-inspired tunes and original songs carry diverse influences in their contemporary twist on traditional music and their concerts are marked by their skill at bringing audiences to their feet in joyous waves of dancing.

Tickets for the new 8pm gig are on sale at £13 on 01759 301547 or at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk; for refunds, ring the same number.
