THE new chairman of Selby District Council has announced her chosen charities for the year.
Councillor Judith Chilvers, formerly vice chairman, was elected at the annual council meeting, and has selected Selby Young Carers and Yorkshire Cancer Research as her charities.
She succeeds Cllr Stephanie Duckett; her vice chairman will be Cllr David Buckle.
She said: “These are exciting times for our district, with a focus on growth and development and our ambition to make this a great place to enjoy life. As chairman, I hope to be able to contribute to these aims and to support and serve the whole community, as well as raise money through the rolefor my chosen charities.”
Cllr Duckett raised more than £7,400 for Asthma UK and Macmillan Cancer Research.
