CHAS & Dave's concert on Thursday at the Grand Opera House, York, has been postponed until February 12 next year as Chas Hodges continues his treatment for cancer of the oesophagus.

The latest medical bulletin on the Chas & Dave website on May 10 reports: "Chas has been advised by his doctors to ease back slowly and to reduce his workload once his treatment is complete. This means we’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel a proportion of the shows that were scheduled over the coming months.

"The shows affected will be Wimborne, Isle Of Wight, Hastings, Cheltenham, Kettering, Salisbury, Wakefield, Stafford, Glasgow, Dorking, Peterborough, Chester, Carlisle, Bridlington and York. Any additional shows that are yet to be re-scheduled will also be cancelled unfortunately.

"We’ll be publishing a full, revised tour list for the rest of the year shortly. The support and understanding of our fans has been brilliant as ever, and has been a great boost to Chas in his ongoing battle. We will see you soon."

The April 29 update revealed that "Chas is now at the half way point of his cancer treatment. Everything is going to plan so far and he’ll begin a five-week course of radiotherapy shortly. This will require a four-week convalescence period, which unfortunately will mean him being unable to fulfil all dates in early to mid-June, with the return live date now being Hyde Park on June 30."
