NORTH Yorkshire-based soldiers will be greeting visitors to a flower show in Harrogate next month.
Soldiers from the 6 Regiment of the Royal Logistic Corps based in Dishforth who have been working with the RHS to run a “boot camp” for more than 500 local school pupils. Hundreds of decommissioned army boots have been planted up and decorated by the pupils in a bid to help brighten up grey community spaces and will be on display at the second RHS Garden Harlow Carr’s from June 23 to 27. Military wives will also show off portable gardens created on wooden pallets which will be taken back to their communities – with the boots – after the show.
There will also be more than 40 specialist plant nurseries and trade stands, talks and demonstrations, and live music throughout. For details visit www.rhs.org.uk/harlowcarrwhatson or ring 01423 565418.
