A WOMAN was rescued by firefighters from the River Ouse in Selby early today.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said crews were called by police to the river at New Street, near the town’s swing bridge, at 12.43am.
A spokesman said the woman had fallen into the water from the swing bridge and floated down the river.
He said crews used a swift water rescue boat, rope and a triple extension ladder to rescue her, uninjured, and left her in the care of the ambulance service.
Meanwhile in York, firefighters came across a woman who had collapsed at Clifton Green last night, and stood by until the arrival of ambulance crews.
Crews also went to a flat at Sturdy Court, Kirkbymoorside, yesterday evening after a frying pan left on a hob caught fire, and gave oxygen to the occupant who was suffering from slight smoke inhalation.
