IN-FORM goalscorer Megan Bramham headed a last-minute winner for York City Ladies in their final away game of the season at lowly Scunthorpe & Bottesford Ladies.
The visitors appeared set to be denied completing just their third league double of the campaign at the expense of a side they had already comfortably disposed of 6-1 back in November.
However, Bramham’s sixth goal in six games and 11th of the season proved enough for them to take maximum points courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory.
The contest had earlier been suspended towards the end of the opening half after a serious injury to a home player required the arrival of an ambulance.
Defender Abbi Webster was announced as player of the game for the visitors, meanwhile, after helping City to only a third clean-sheet this term.
The Minsterbelles still have one remaining fixture at home to Tynedale Ladies, but are guaranteed to finish sixth in the table - three places lower than twelve months ago.
Barnsley were already confirmed as champions ahead of Norton & Stockton Ancients and are promoted into the Women’s Premier League, although both of those teams have previously been beaten by City Ladies this season.
City Ladies team: Samantha Knight, Jess Barnes, Sara Renfrew, Abbi Webster, Helen Winterburn, Martha Ohr, Sophie Simpson, Zoe Doherty, Kayleigh Davis, Megan Bramham, Ellie Regan. Sub: Beth Clayton
