DETECTIVES investigating a suspected kidnapping have renewed their appeal for help.

North Yorkshire Police said a man was forced into a car by three others in Butcher Terrace, Bishopthorpe Road, at about 5.30pm on Monday, April 24.

Police said they specifically want to hear from anyone who saw "an altercation involving a group of men who arrived at the Winning Post pub on Bishopthorpe Road in two vehicles", at about 5pm on April 24.

Four men were arrested in armed raids in Tang Hall Lane the following morning in connection with the incident and have all since been released on bail.

A spokeswoman said three men were arrested on suspicion of kidnap, one of whom was also arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs. A fourth man was arrested in connection with the supply of Class A drugs.

Local residents saw and heard armed police break down the door of the house in Tang Hall Lane at about 9.15am on April 25, with about eight police vehicles parked in the road outside.

A vehicle and property was removed from the house and taken away by police.

Police have previously appealed to anyone who was in the Bishopthorpe Road area at the time of the incident and who saw either a black Clio or a silver car on the afternoon of the altercation and the incident.
