TRIBUTES have been paid to a well-known member of the local community.

Audie Sellars, a former traffic warden and Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) in Malton, died on Thursday after

suffering from a rare form of cancer.

The 59-year-old helped to create the Malton and Norton Skatepark and was commended by North Yorkshire Police in recognition of his commitment and service to the communities of the two towns.

One of his two sons, who is also called Audie, said: “My dad meant everything to us, it was heartbreaking to see him go through his illness.”

Audie said he and the rest of the family, including his mum Carol, brother Shane and sister Donna, said they would like to thank everyone for their support.

“He will be very much missed by us all,” he said.

PC Jane Jones, of Malton Police, who worked with Audie for more than 11 years, said: “He will be really missed in the local community as he was a well-known man.

“All police officers send their condolence to the family.”

Audie’s funeral service will take place at Malton cemetery on Tuesday, May 16, at 1pm.
