BURNHOLME’S Caroline Whittaker closed on bull as they were prevented from a full house by visitors Severus ‘A’s final pairing of Jackie Simpson and Sue Clark in their York John Smith’s Ladies League division one match.

Elsewhere, Ox and visitors Fulfordgate were tied 3–3 after the singles.

Michelle Britton (125, 100) led the way for Gate, with Dawn Stamp, Toni Smallwood and Sandra Bruce replying.

After Muriel Britton and Dawn Exton levelled, Anne Bass then combined with captain Tracey Watkinson and Smallwood–Bruce to seal victory.

Tramways hosted high-flying Priory, whose Ellen Platt, Clair Cooper and captain Di Moreland scored.

Sisters Bev Harton amd Jayne Janes replied, while Tracey Farmeary sent the match into the pairs all square.

Cooper–Babs Harrison then edged the visitors in front, before Farmeary and daughter Natalie set up a decider, which saw Platt–Moreland snatch victory.

Edinburgh got off to a good start courtesy of Amanda Bevan, Emma Frankland and Anthea Jamieson’s efforts, before Anne Cornthwaite’s 66 checkout put Marcia on the scoresheet.

Julie Stables restored Burgh’s advantage, only for Marcia captain Faye Hawksby to narrow the gap again.

Captain Chris Lamb was then joined by Jamieson and the pairing sealed match points.

In division two, front-runners Burton Stone nearly had a full house in the singles with Sheila Harrison, Sandra Pallister, Susan Barker, Katrina Thackeray and captain Linda Embleton sealing match points.

Chris Patterson and Sharon Lyons–Liz Jackson replied for visitors Saddle, but it proved to be their only points as Burton polished off the remaining games.

Tramways B had victory sewn up within the singles at Clockhouse as Georgina Clayton, Linda Staveley, Becky Thompson, Karen Alton and Wendy Sullivan all claimed victories.

Sarah Rankeillor got Clock’s lone singles point, but Staveley–Clayton added another win before House won the remaining legs.

Leeman A’s Jackie Gray and Charlotte Witts prevailed at Severus B, whose Dot Sellars, Michelle Kelly, Sue Gillan and Wendy Storr gave them a 4 – 2 advantage.

Sellars–Linda Goldsmith went on to secure match points.

Slipper were tied 3–3 with visitors Shoulder, whose Kirsty Limbert–Carol Price, then Gemma Coulson–Sandra Flintoft, secured the win by the meanest of margins.
