A DAY devoted to hedgehogs will aim to raise awareness of the prickly animal.

Beetle Bank Farm, in Moor Lane, Murton, has joined forces with The Wildlife Orphanage and Hedgehog Hospital to educate people about the mammal’s rapid decline on Saturday.

Annette Pyrah, who runs the Hedgehog Hospital in Selby said: “We have lots of hedgehog things going off, a competition to win hedgehog goodies, hedgehog greetings cards, hedgehog toys and of course, we will be on hand to answer any hedgehog questions.

“Visitors will be able to see new arrivals ranging from baby rabbits to baby chicks and take part in a variety of fun, family-friendly activities and crafts.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm.

Parking and entry to the farm is free.
