A TEENAGE girl will appear in court next week, charged with biting a female police officer.
North Yorkshire Police were called to a disturbance at a property in Avenue Grove, Harrogate at about 8.50pm on Friday.
A spokeswoman said a 16-year-old girl was arrested at the scene on suspicion of breach of court bail conditions and taken to Harrogate custody suite.
She said: "While at Harrogate police station, a woman police officer was bitten by the suspect.
"The 16-year-old was further arrested on suspicion of assaulting a policing officer and later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm."
The Harrogate Investigation Hub shared this image of the bite wound on social media yesterday, and called the incident "shocking".

The officer received medical treatment for the bite wound to her arm, and has been tested for a number of transmittable diseases, including HIV.
The officer involved in the incident said the public reaction and sympathy shown after the image of the wound was shared on social media "really lifted my spirits".
The girl is due before magistrates on Tuesday.
