HERE is the latest addition to the wallaby family at Askham Bryan College.
The joey, which doesn’t yet have a name, was born last month at the college and wildlife park manager Caroline Howard thinks it may be the first offspring of Wesley - who was captured after being found on the streets of York in 2014.
Caroline said: “We’ve got another male called Old Joe, but he’s not the most young or virile male.
“The new joey is going to be in the pouch for a couple of hundred days in total, and he’s just come out over the last few weeks. At the moment, the pouch is virtually dragging on the floor, so relatively soon his mother will want to kick it out.”
The college is set to announce the gender of the joey once they can examine it, and is planning to hold a competition to allow the public to name it in the future.
