FROM your archive on May 23, 2016, under a headline “Boris Johnson in York: Cheers and jeers as Brexit battlebus comes to town”, The Press reported: “He also claimed Brexit would benefit York manufacturers such as confectioners Nestlé and Tangerine, who he said would still be able to export to Europe and the rest of the world while no longer being subject to the diktats of remote, unelected officials in Brussels.”
Care to ring him and ask about the latest Nestlé job losses?
I don’t quite understand how the diktats of remote unelected officials in Brussels have brought them about, but no doubt he’ll explain.
Oh, and while you’re at it, an accompanying photo shows to the famous battlebus promising £350 million a week for the NHS at his Knavesmire event, so you might also ask him whether Vale of York is really going to need the planned £50 million of cuts running to 2021 that you reported on April 18.
