HEALTH bosses will not confirm whether the delays in announcing the location of York’s new psychiatric hospital will have a knock on effect on the project.

The location of a replacement for Bootham Park Hospital was expected to be announced this week, but Tees Esk and Wear Valley Trust (TEWV) said they cannot announce the decision until after the General Election.

The new hospital could be built on the current site in Bootham, or in Haxby Road or Clifton Park.

A spokesperson for TEWV said: “There won’t be an announcement about the preferred site for the new hospital development until after the election.”

However, TEWV was unable to say if the delay would have a subsequent impact on the project overall. According to deadlines published in February, the new hospital is expected to be completed by December 2019. An outline business case was due to have been approved this month and presented to the wider NHS next month.
