POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of a missing man from York and have extended their search to London.

Richard Cooke, also known as Richard Marshall or Richard Baldwin, left his home in York on Sunday at 12.50pm to go shopping into York city centre, but has not been seen or heard from since.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "Concerns are growing as Mr Cooke suffers from ill-health and without regular medication his condition is likely to deteriorate quickly.

"Police believed that Mr Cooke has travelled to London and it is thought he may be in the Holborn area. He may be attempting to travel to Australia and so may visit one of the major London airports.

"Metropolitan Police and airport authorities have been contacted and are supporting the search, but police are also requesting the assistance from members of the public in the Holborn area and anyone who may be travelling to or from any of the major London airports."

Richard, 64, is described as white, 5’9” tall and of a slim build. He has cropped greying hair and white beard. He was wearing a beige corduroy jacket, green shirt and grey corduroy trousers and when he left he was carrying a carrying purple carrier bag.

Anyone who has seen Richard, or who has any information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and speak to the Force Control Room.
