EIGHTIES pop trio Bananarama will play York Barbican on November 16 on their first ever tour with the original line-up of Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward and Siobhan Fahey.

Sara says: "Keren and I have toured as a duo for years, but we never toured or played live with Siobhan. We've been talking about this idea for a while and now the moment has finally arrived, it's incredibly exciting! Lots of fans have often asked 'please just do one tour with Siobhan', so now their wishes have come true."

Keren told Chris Evans's BBC Radio 2 show: “You just think it’s now or never. I gave Siobhan a call, put the idea in her head and thought it was never going to happen, but what do you know, it did.”

Siobhan added: “I was really touched because it wasn’t for any other reason than we love each other and we’re really proud of what we did together. I was feeling really nostalgic and proud and what a great thing to celebrate."

Bananarama were formed by childhood friends Dallin and Woodward and Dallin's fellow fashion journalism student Fahey in 1979 and went on to become Britain's most successful girl group, still continuing to have hits after Jacquie O'Sullivan joined for a couple of years in 1988, when Siobhan walked out amid acrimony to form Shakespears Sister.

The re-formed trio, who last performed together at the 1988 BRIT Awards, have discussed making a single but the November tour's focus will be on "all the hits", such as Robert De Niro’s Waiting…, Cruel Summer, Venus, Nathan Jones, I Heard A Rumour, Shy Boy and Love In The First Degree.

York Barbican will be the only Yorkshire show on this autumn's 13-date tour. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday at 9am at yorkbarbican.co.uk and on 0844 854 2757.
