A SELBY scheme to help people find the services that can help them is already smashing targets.

The Community Navigators scheme launched six months ago, and since then has dealt with 1,280 enquiries – 28 per cent more than anticipated.

Organisers say the scheme has also recruited nine volunteers, scored customer satisfaction levels of 99 per cent, and seen 97 per cent of users report improvement or benefit after using the service

Jackie Mook, chief officer from Age UK Selby District said: β€œThe scheme is all about sharing knowledge and making sure everyone has access to information, advice, support and information about activities in their local area.”

The volunteers work in communities and are trained to give out information about services and activities available to people who may need them.

The scheme is funded by Selby District Council and North Yorkshire County Council, and they work with Selby and District DIAL and Age UK Selby District, which deliver the project. The service can be contacted at Age UK on 01757 704115 or Selby and District DIAL on 01757 210495.
