A MAN has appeared in court accused of smashing a jukebox in a York pub with an axe.
York Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday that Josh Strickland, 22, of no fixed address, was arrested in connection with an incident at the Clifton Hotel on January 3, when he allegedly got into an altercation with staff over the volume of the jukebox.
He is accused of causing more than £4,000 of damage to a jukebox and a gaming machine.
Strickland denied two counts of criminal damage and one count of possessing an axe in public.
He was released on bail and is due to appear before York Crown Court next month.
