A HOTEL worker has denied defrauding a York business out of more than £50,000.

Susan Robinson, 40, was assistant manager at Jorvik Hotel in Marygate when the alleged incidents are said to have taken place.

Robinson, of The Village, Haxby, pleaded not guilty at York Magistrates’ Court to two counts of fraud by abuse of position at the hotel - the first between July 1, 2010, and November 29, 2014, allegedly involving £23,898. The second charge is said to involve £7,093.62 between June 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014.

She also denied one count of fraud by false representation to the value of £22,040, which is said to relate to reimbursement through an insurance policy for the use of two rooms between September 6, 2014, and January 4, 2015. Robinson was released on unconditional bail, and is next due to appear before York Crown Court in May.
