SPORT should be for everyone. You don’t have to be young and fit to enjoy the social and health benefits. So it is great to see York gearing up to hold its own Dialysis Games.
The games will be open to anyone who is undergoing dialysis - and their relatives. “It is all about inclusivity,” said Shannon Clay, a spokesperson for the event. “We’ll have people who are very fit despite dialysis, and able to take part in more serious sports, but ... others giving the sports a go for the first time. Just come along and have a go.”
Those last seven words sum it up. Sport is all about having a go. It is wonderful that dialysis patients in York will be able to join in.
