A STREET pedlar who sold fake Dior and Apple phone covers in York has been given a three-month suspended sentence.
Ndiasse Faye, 30, of Nowell Parade, Leeds, admitted 11 counts of selling counterfeit goods before York Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, and was also fined £1,280.
Prosecution was brought by City of York Council trading standards officers, who - during searches of his property and storage units in Leeds in April 2015 - discovered hundreds of fake items bought for 20p each, but sold on the street for £6.
Cllr Nigel Ayre praised the Trading Standards team for “doggedly investigated this blatant case of selling fake goods to protect the public from buying substandard items”.
