THE judges and audience were moved to tears when The Missing People Choir - including Peter Lawrence, father of missing York chef Claudia Lawrence - appeared on Britain's Got Talent.

The choir gave a heartbreaking performance of an original song, I Miss You, dedicated to their loved ones, in a show recorded at London's Palladium and broadcast last night on ITV.

Mr Lawrence, whose Heworth daughter has been missing since March 2009, was among an ensemble of missing people's relatives who received a standing ovation during the show.

Presenters Ant and Dec, and judges such as Amanda Holden, fought back tears during an emotional appearance.

Amanda said:"I thought that was an extraordinary song and it must echo how many of you feel.

"I am glad you have all got each other and I am glad you have turned such a dreadful thing into something so masivly positive which hopedully will help other people who have got family members lost."

Alesha Dixon said: "I have so much admiration for you," while David Walliams said: "I cannot imagine how you got through it., it was so emotional watching it. It was beautifully done." Meanwhile, Simon Cowell said: "I have to pay you absolute respect for what you have done."

Mr Lawrence has told how the show has been a great opportunity for families to get their message across.
