FIREFIGHTERS tackled a major moorland blaze on the North York Moors last night.
Ten fire engines went to Fylingdales Moor after about 30 acres caught alight, but North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said later the incident had now been scaled down and would be left open for a revisit this morning.
Meanwhile, crews from Selby also fought a fire last night on a farm at Gateforth, near Selby, in which a potato picker and trailer were badly damaged.
A spokesman said waste straw was being burned by a farmer when the fire went out of control and spread to the equipment.
