FAMILIES can have a cracking time at egg hunts and Easter trails taking place across North Yorkshire over the Bank Holiday weekend.

As well as local egg hunts, Cadbury is organising events at National Trust sites in York and the surrounding area.

An Easter trail will be taking place at York’s Holgate Windmill, on Windmill Rise in Holgate. The landmark will be open on Easter Monday, from 11am to 4pm, and involves children following a trail to solve a puzzle and win a prize.

Admission costs £3 for adults and £1 for children who are aged five to 18, plus 50p per child for the Easter Trail adventure.

National Trust properties with egg hunts include Treasurer’s House in York. From today until Monday, 11am to 4pm, there will be a fun-filled Cadbury egg hunt at the popular attraction.

Families can have Easter fun at Beningbrough Hall every day until Monday, from 10.30am to 5pm.

Nunnington Hall’s egg hunts will also take place every day until Monday, 10.30am to 5pm, with visitors required to follow a scarecrow on a hunt to win a prize.

The National Trust’s Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal estate, near Ripon, is holding two egg hunts from today until April 23.
