A MAKEOVER of accommodation for older people in York has got underway.
Young people from Safe and Sound Homes (SASH), started their makeover of City Mills in Skeldergate on Tuesday, as part of the Enable project.
Enable has been running for two years, and helps younger people learn tasks including decorating and gardening, with support from City of York Council, Homebase and SASH staff. Cllr Sam Lisle said: “Over the last two years the project has enabled young volunteers to spend time making a real difference to the lives of older people in the city. It has challenged them with numerous gardening and decorating makeovers and has involved battling the elements, giant bramble bushes and some very alarming spiders in order to achieve their objectives.”
