A COOL Easter is looming for York and North Yorkshire - with virtually no chance of a repeat of the past weekend's warm sunshine.
Temperatures soared as a high as 21C, or 70F, in York yesterday - higher than Athens, Barcelona and Nice - as southerly winds drew warm air up from France.
But the mercury plummeted to only 14C today after a sudden shift to cooler north-westerly winds, and the trend is set to continue up to and through the Easter bank holiday weekend.
The Met Office expects York to see cloudy weather on Good Friday, with temperatures only reaching 11C - about 10C cooler than on Sunday- and with some rain rain likely later.
Similar temperatures are anticipated on Saturday, along with showers, and only 10C is expected on Easter Sunday, albeit with sunny spells.
More sunshine is expected on Easter Monday, with temperatures raising just a notch to 11C as the north-westerly winds continue.
Temperatures may begin rising again - once the Easter bank holiday period is over.
