A FILM starring David Tennant which was partially shot in York has had a screening in the city.
Mad to be Normal, which was filmed on several locations around York, was shown at the City Screen on Sunday.
The film tells the story of Scottish psychiatrist R D Laing, who created a residential retreat for people with schizophrenia and advocated the use of LSD for medical treatment in the 1960s.
The film also stars Mad Men and The Handmaid’s Tale actor Elisabeth Moss, Sir Michael Gambon and Gabriel Byrne. Scenes were shot above Stone Trough Books in Walmgate last February, and more than 200 students signed up to appear as extras in scenes shot on campus at the University of York.
The film closed Glasgow Film Festival on Sunday, February 26. A series of screenings started in Edinburgh on Friday and on Sunday the film was shown at the City Screen in the centre of York.
