A WEEKEND of warm sunshine is beckoning across the region, with temperatures set to hit 18C tomorrow in York and 19C on Sunday.

Long sunny periods are likely tomorrow and on Sunday morning, although it may start to cloud over later on Sunday afternoon.

People should make the most of the summery conditions, as temperatures are set to plummet to just 11C on Monday as north-westerly winds introduce cooler air from the North Atlantic.

Meanwhile, with a little help from tourist organisation Visit York, here are seven ways you might enjoy the summer weather over the weekend.

1.Cruise on the Ouse and see York from a different perspective from a YorkBoat.

2. Visit York's very own botanical gardens in Museum Gardens, with free tours available on weekends.

3.Get on your bike at Dalby Forrest

4.Visit the stunning host of golden daffodils at Farndale on the North York Moors

5.Sip a cooling drink at one of York’s riverside pubs and cafe gardens

6.Visit the re-opened Jorvik Viking Centre -it will be sunny and therefore pleasant in the queue!
