ASA Hall is hoping to turn the Chester supporters against their own team when York City visit the Deva Stadium tomorrow.
The hosts are yet to win on their own soil in 2017, losing seven of their eight home contests and Hall feels a positive beginning to the game by the Minstermen could crank up the pressure on Jon McCarthy’s men.
“It will be in their players’ minds when they’re playing at home and the fans will be ready to turn on them at some point,” City’s on-loan, 30-year-old midfielder reasoned. “We’ve just got to make sure we start the game well, unlike on Tuesday against Bromley.
“Going a goal down can make a big difference at this level, because you’re then thinking what’s Plan B. “
Hall also stressed his happiness at avoiding a recall from parent club Cheltenham prior to the transfer window closing, as he looks to finish off the job of fighting National League relegation and playing at Wembley in the FA Trophy final.
“Cheltenham were saying they wanted me back to play on the Saturday before my loan was up, but there was real confusion, because I was still contracted to play here until after then.” the ex-Luton schemer said. “When I came here, I wanted to stay and help keep the team up.
“Wembley is obviously a massive attraction as well and something we can really look forward to once we get safe. I didn’t see myself going back to Cheltenham and things changed so I didn’t have to, which I was glad about.”
On the targeted points haul from City’s next two matches at Chester and Solihull, Hall added: “Four would be great, but six would be unbelievable.”
