A GLORIOUS weekend of sunny weather is beckoning in York and North Yorkshire, with Sunday likely to be the warmest day of the year so far.
High pressure to the east of the UK is expected to feed in warm air from the south, with temperatures forecast to reach 15C or 59F in York on Saturday during prolonged sunshine.
But Sunday is looking even better, with a maximum of 18C, or 64F, being forecast by the Met Office for York amid long sunny periods, although it may cloud over later.
It could also be a good day for a trip to the Yorkshire Coast, with 17C forecast on Sunday at Scarborough.
Sun worshippers should make the most of it, however, with temperatures set to fall to 12C in York on Monday as winds swing round to the north west, heralding a much cooler week up to and including the Good Friday bank holiday.
