VOLUNTEERS have been honoured by the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire for their contribution to the Cadet and Reserve Forces.
The group included Sergeant Major Instructor David Shaw, who volunteers for Yorkshire North and West Army Cadet Force (ACF) B Company based in York, and Wing Commander Jeff Metcalfe, who lives in Holme-upon-Spalding Moor in East Yorkshire and is based at the RFCA in York.
They were presented with the Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificate, an achievement recognised as one of the highest honours in the armed forces, ranking just below an MBE.
The award was presented by Barry Dodd, Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire at a ceremony hosted by 4th Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment at Worsley Barracks in York, in front of family and friends as well as local dignitaries including the Lord Mayors of York, Harrogate and Scarborough as well as the High Sheriff of North Yorkshire.
