SIX men were arrested during a drugs raid in Selby.

North Yorkshire Police executed a drugs warrant at a house in Millgate, Selby, on Tuesday morning.

A spokeswoman said the men aged 18, 21, 21, 25, 27 and 27 years old, were all arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Posting on social media, a member of the force’s operational support unit said officers were faced with a number of challenges, including uncooperative occupants, fewer officers than residents, and a large dog.

They said: “Bit short staffed today however we have executed a drugs act warrant in the Selby area this morning in a shared house.

“One resident didn’t want to open his room door. Door removed from hinges. On entry a large dog was located.

“Thankfully it was more of a a lover than a fighter. Six occupants arrested (which was more than attending officers) #ThinBlueLine.”

The police spokeswoman said five officers initially entered the property to make the arrests before backup arrived.

She also said “a quantity of drugs and cash was recovered from the premises”, but could not specify an amount of either.

All six men have since been released on bail while investigations continue.
