TV star Peter Andre took the time to visit a York centre for people with mental health conditions or learning disabilities after completing a broadcast at a care home.
The Press reported yesterday how the pop singer had visited The Gravers care home in Wigginton Road last Friday as a surprise organised by ITV’s This Morning programme.
Now Emma Harris, manager of The Hut, a safe space in Clarence Gardens where people with enduring mental health issues and/or learning disabilities can learn, socialise and develop new skills, has told how he offered to pay it a visit after completing the broadcast.
“He made one of our member’s day,” she said. “Sandra had been a fan for over 20 years and Peter made her feel so special. He came across as a very kind and genuine man who wasn’t there due cameras or a film crew - he was there because he wanted to be.
“It is lovely to see people who are in the public light giving up some time to make a real difference.”
