THE 6th Selby (Brayton), cub scouts are supporting their community and learning more about the local facilities available in Selby.
They will soon be paying a visit to the Selby and District food bank, so have started a collection of food to donate on their visit.
The Yorkshire Building Society in Selby heard about this and wanted to support the cause as part of their Society Matters programme.
Shona Gladwell, branch manager, sprung into action and arranged a collection and donation point in the Gowthorpe branch.
Donations of packets and tinned food, including cereals, teabags, soup and bottled squash, are welcome at the branch between March 30 and April 13.
There will also be a donation point at the cubs’ headquarters on Doncaster Road, Brayton, on the run up to the Easter break.
Cub scout leader Lloyd Latibeaudiere said: “It’s great for our cubs to not only learn about their community, but give something back at the same time.”
This is the first time the cubs have teamed up with the foodbank and Mr Latibeaudiere said they are looking forward to their visit.
