A YORK charity worker is in training to run in the London Marathon in support of the Wilberforce Trust Dual Sensory Mobile Unit.
Jacqui Wilson, business manager of the Wilberforce Trust in York, is raising funds for the unit, which will provide information and services to people in rural communities who may have sight or hearing loss and may find it difficult to know where to turn.
She said: “I’ve just booked my London Hotel and train tickets so that’s it! It’s happening. No backing out now.
“My aim is to beat the time of 4 hours 43 minutes which I set the last time I ran the Marathon six years ago.
“At the same time, I plan to raise much needed funds to help people with sight and hearing loss in York and North Yorkshire have outreach access to the services and information that they need.”
If you’d like to support Jacqui you can sponsor her or sponsor a track of your choice on her Marathon Day iPod playlist by going to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/WilberforceWarrior
