I TOTALLY disagree with D M Deamer (Letters, March 21) about paving in Parliament Street.

I personally have never found Parliament Street to be any more hazardous than anywhere else in York.

I certainly don’t want those beautiful trees removed.

City of York Council should not be encouraged to remove trees.

Too many councils in other areas have removed beautiful trees before residents have realised what is happening.

They have then protested but to no avail as it was too late to save them.

Let’s not go down this route in York.

Please leave our trees for visitors and residents to enjoy, not to mention the birds which roost in them.

Please leave our trees alone.
