A COLLEGE in East Yorkshire is preparing for its busiest ever Lambing Sunday this weekend.

Bishop Burton College, near Beverley, is opening its doors to the public on Mother’s Day between 11am and 3pm, and is expecting to welcome more than 7,000 visitors due to the forecast sunshine this year.

Jeanette Dawson OBE, chief executive and principal of the college, said: “I’m always so pleased to be able to welcome the wider general public to the college for our annual Lambing Sunday event.

“It also marks the start of spring and is always a wonderful day out. I’m sure this year will be just the same and we are expecting more people than ever before.” Visitors will get the chance to hold and pet a newborn lamb, with family friendly activities including animal feeding experiences, pony petting and the chance to ‘hug a bug’ and ‘snuggle a snake’ also available.

Entry costs £7 for adults, £5 for under 16s and £20 for a family of four. Under threes go free. There is a £5 charge to park on the campus but free buses and park and ride are available.
